Rosaire Hotel - Benidorm

Ok, I'll kick off the proceedings with my first pick.  I went to Benidorm once and had a good time but I did my research first and I didn't pick this hotel.

A lovely little 3-star hotel, it has an average rating of 2.27 from reviewers on TripAdvisor giving it a score of -0.73.  Here are some of the best bits:

"Please do not make the same mistake that my family and i did. We booked 2 weeks at the Rosaire on the internet and paid £2100.00 on the understanding it was a 3 star hotel. When we arrived the receptionist told me that they did not do twin rooms, even though they said they did on the internet. I was not happy as i have 5 kids and had wanted to be in twin rooms to be close. The balcony door had no red dots on it, my young son was going to run straight into it. There were 4 lights that did not work and worst of all, electrical wires were hanging above the sink. I told the rep and they were not fixed until some 48 hours later. The rooms are pokey, dirty and smelly. The balcony is useless as you cannot sit down and see over the thick plastic sheeting that has been screwed onto the balcony. The food was horrible. No kids menu, and was luke warm all the time. Several times we found hair in the food. The rep told me to use a microwave to warm the food up, ( i thought i booked a 3 star hotel, not a b&b). The pool is ice cold and in the shade. They have the same country & western singer outside the hotel, he sings the same songs EVERY night and the endless clapping and whooping of the line dancers is annoying. The high chairs were disgusting and the lifts only hold 4 people at a tine, so you always end up waiting around 10 to 15 minutes for one. Please look at other hotels as you will not get value for your money and will end up paying to eat out as i did for 2 weeks. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!!"

"NOT IMPRESSED, by this so called 3 STAR HOTEL.
We were ther for 9 days and had the room cleaned only once.
We booked in Allinclusive,, The bar and resturant staff were any thing but nice and polite, very few could speak Basic English, the food was poor, and mainly cold, there were no hot plates or even warm plates.
At the bar even allthough you wore a wristband you had to give your room number, and you were only allowed two drinks at a time , be it water, beer or spirits, so if you wanted something else you had to go to the end of a very long queue, and start again.... And the Bar closed for allinclusive at 11 pm so from then on you had to pay.
No one at the hotel seemed to know how to smile
There is no one at the entrance of the resturant,so it's really a free for all, looking for a clean table.
Sorry but I would not recommend this hotel."

"We stayed at this hotel for 1 week at the beginning of May - NEVER AGAIN

* The reception staff are lazy and cannot be bothered to help you, everything is a chore! The can speak perfect English when they are asking you for money to pay for something but when you need their help it is a different story!

* The room is an ok size, however you could see damp marks on the ceiling and it did smell a bit. The cupboards and drawers were all dirty and stained.....I refused to put my clothes in the cupboard/drawers! The shower was pathetic and the shower curtain was mouldy. The balcony had table and two chairs but it had a stupid sheet of plastic over the front of the railings so you couldn't see anything unless you were standing up. The room did have a TV (you have to pay to get the remote control before you can watch it), but we never used it.

* The lifts are a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. This hotel is on 12 floors (we were on 10) and there are two lifts, each holding a maximum of 4 people (at a push). One day we were there, one of the lifts had broken down. You have to wait ages for a lift when there are 2 working so you can imagine what it was like with only one!

* The Restaurant....oh dear where do I start. The staff need to learn to smile (1 female member of staff in particular!). They are in too much of a hurry to get you out - one day we had finished our soup and went to get our main meal and by the time we got back to the table, they had cleared it (including the drinks we had paid for!). I explained to the waiter that we had not finished and he reluctantly gave us another drink. The food is truly awful, and 9 times out of 10, the food is undercooked and cold. They even have a microwave for you to reheat the food but it is really dirty inside. The soup looks like dirty dish water most of the time and the bread rolls really are rock hard. It was impossible to cut them in half you had to tear them open with your hands but they ended up being too hard to eat anyway. The cutlery and plates were often dirty and a few of the soup bowls had large chips out of the sides - quite dangerous really.

* The pool area is not very nice, lots of rubbish and empyt water bottles lying around and quite a few of the sunbeds were broken. we didn't hang around there much.

* The 'Entertainment' at the 'Rosaire Tavern'.....the singer is terrible, sings the same songs every night and sounds like he has a peg clipped on the end of his nose! You also had to queue for about 20minutes to get a drink - they are very understaffed (it is the same at the bar inside the hotel)

The only good thing about this hotel is it's location, very close to everything you need.

I loved Benidorm and would go back in a flash but I would NEVER go back to this hotel. I only wish I had believed the other reviews on here before I booked it."

"we have just returned from the worst holiday of our life the rosaire is the worst hotel we have been in it is dirty ,the food for an all inclusive hotel was apaulling the menu was almost identical for every meal. The waiting and resturant staff leave a lot to be desired in customer service. The rosaire tavern in the hotel has a severe insect problem we have dozens of bites and when we mentioned it to the reception staff they put their hand up and said nothing we can do which makes me wonder what other hotels do as we have been to benidorm twice a year for the last six years and have never been bitten before. There are no activities in the hotel apart from use of the tennis court , a lacal singer who is at best rubbish a visiting singer for less than an hour each night. The whole experience was a nightmare, So if you're looking for a nice clean relaxing holiday with good food and entertainment PLEASE DON"T go to rosaire"

"We have just returned from a week in benidorm. We stayed at the Hotel Rosaire what a load of rubbish it was awful.
We were all inclusive the food was rubbish and they only offered standard alcholic drinks.
The staff were always misrable and spoke very little english. The entertainment at night was rubbish the singer was the same every night singing the same songs at the same time every night.
The rooms were small which didn't bother me that much but they put us on the 10th floor which would of been ok if the lifts didn't keep breaking down. The air conditioning didn't let out hardly any air i could of done better with a small hand fan.
Basically the hotel is the worst i have stayed in. However Benidorm its self was great and we are going to go back there next year something for everyone but i can safely say that we will not be staying at The Rosaire.
My advice to you is go to Benidorm its great!!! But stay clear away from this Hotel"

"Me and my family stayed at the rosaire from the 17aug till the 1st sept what a nightmare talk about getting stressed out hotel itself was very very basic there were 17 of us altogether. The food was atrocious there was no variation it seemed to be the same food over and over with just something extra added each mealtime we were told that there would be tea making facilities in the rooms there was none thank god we took our own kettle with us as I do not drink alchohol but I do look forward to my cuppa my two children never ate breakfast or evening meal at all in the hotel so it ended cost me a fair packet for them to eat out they both ended up at the doctors with ear infections from the pool and they wernt the only kids there that had ear infections the cleaning staff were lovely but the waiting on staff were so miserable you couldnt turn your head for two minutes and the would take your plate away without even asking you if you if you had finished i would definetly not recommend this hotel to anyone and it wasnt just our group that felt like this nearly everyone we spoke to said exactly the same . I couldnt wait to get home!"

"It was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. The room was like a prison cell and we had to request for a maid to clean the room again when we arrived it was very dirty. I was there with my friend for a week. On the second night all my friends money was stolen from her case in the room, the police were called there was no forced entry to the room, but the money was gone. I found the hotel staff very unhelpful when this happened and were very reluctant to call the police. The smelll when you walked in the hotel was disgusting. I never attempted to try the food or go in the pool, it looked horrible, i went to the beach everyday. The all inclusive was a joke."

"This was our third visit to Benidorm as we absolutely love the entertainment, however this was the worst hotel we have stayed in,the room was dingy, the pool was freezing although the weather was glorious,we were all inclusive but to get a drink or something to eat out of dining times was a nightmare as you have to queu up at a bar with only one man serving and doing the light cooking services then you have to tell him your room number while he puts all the information on computer eg. what you have had each time you go to the bar.I always suffer with prickly heat but to suffer with bites that i can only presume i got from bed bugs ,as you didnt see anything flying round was horrendous and it wasnt only me each person you saw in the hotel seemed to have bites all over them.We only saw a rep once and to wait and complain would have wasted half a days holiday as loads of people were waiting to speak to him.On the first morning after arriving my husband went to sit on the small balcony only to fall flat on the floor cut his head and a big scratch down his leg because the chairs were broken."

"Just got back from a week in this hell hole they like to call a hotel!!
I have been to Benidorm about 20 times and stayed in all kinds of hotels but this by far is the worse ever!! The only good thing it had going for it was that it was central and thats it the bad things I will list for you as there are so many!!!!!
1. Dingy, tatty old fashioned and dirty in public areas and bedrooms.
2. Staff vile and unfriendly
3. Drinks watered down to near enough water
4. Air Con not working in the bedrooms
5. Bitten to death when I never have been before and not sure if they were in the beds
6. Entertainment was really grim in the evening
7. Food not cooked and cold most days
8. 2 tiny lifts covering 12 floors
9. 1 member of staff on the upstairs bar and he is so slow and miserable and every thing you buy goes in a computer against your hotel room (very strange)
I hated every minute of this holiday and would say even if its cheap it isn't cause not only do you need to eat out all the time but also have to go out to drink too.
DONT DO IT PLEASSSSSSEEEEE"

"Stayed in the rosaire with my partner 2 young kids under 5 and 2 relatives in ther 40,s. The reception looked dated the minute we walked in then onto the rooms ??? what a dump i,ve slept in nicer prison cells lol the room had a bad smell of sewage when i complained the hotel said it was an external sewage problem and lots of guests had complained. The main room was seperated by a scabby curtain where there lay what i thought was o coffin with no lid, but i was assured it was some sort of bed. The food was lets just say GORDON RAMSAY would be using every swear word in his vocabulary it was bland, tasteless and cold the meats were fatty with cochroaches actually running from the restuarant."

"was booked through travel agent to stay 12 days -this hotel is no cheaper than other 3 star hotels in benidorm - we have been going to benidorm now for about 8 years, at least twice a year, so have stayed in many of benidorms hotels, this hotel did not satisfy even the most basic requirements. The hotel is tired and the staff appear the same. No cleaning routine at all, the bedrooms are so basic and unwelcoming. The food was re-cycled each day, what wasn't eaten at tea came out again at dinner the following day - fresh bread every three days -on our fifth day we asked for fresh bread as the bread available was stale- we were told very nicely that no fresh bread until the following day -. WE PACKED UP AND LEFT -PAID AGAIN TO STAY THE REST OF OUR HOLIDAY IN ANOTHER HOTEL -RATED THE SAME 3 STAR -SAME PRICE PER DAY BUT AFTER THE ROSAIRE WAS LIKE GOING TO FIVE STAR LUXURY. YOU DO NOT ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!"

"This hotel should be demolished, first off its old and tatty,so you would imagine they would make an effort to make your stay more enjoyable,no chance. The room stank like a doss house, beds where old and smelly, the shower was a death trap. They need to change the sheets every day to stop the smell coming through.
Food is basic, mainly chicken or pork and the eggs at breakfast were see through they were so under cooked and every day people complained so they,d cook a few then start serving raw again, salmonella waiting to happen.
Most of staff were ignorant although some did there best ,it was a loosing battle,
The pool area was a disgrace with only a few beds not broken or collapsing on you.
Dont think about going all inclusive as the drinks are basic local brew with hardly any choice, anything else you have to pay for, what a rip off.
We had a late booking so went on the advice of the travel agent and as we took my husbands mother and aunt we just made the best of it otherwise we,d have got out of there fast.
It was the longest 10 days of our lives,I could go on for an hour but its making me ill just thinking about it.
WHAT A HELL HOLE"

"We stayed in the Hotel Rosaire recently and it is the worst hotel I have stayed in, we went All Inclusive and the food was awful, always pork with something and rice pudding for desert. The alcohol was horrible but lager ok, the location and staff were the only good part of this hotel, holidaymakers found a cockroach in the lamb stew!!!!
The sun disappeared around the front of the hotel and left the pool in the shade for most of the afternoon, sunbeds were dirty and queues in the Tavern for drinks due to there only being one staff member on duty.
Im not one to complain and easily pleased, however this needed to be reported, I have no idea how this made a three star hotel....."

Ok, Ok, that's enough, there's so many bad reviews of this hotel that we could keep going for pages if we wanted; do you?  As always, there are some good reviews for this hotel although these aren't anywhere near as funny to read.  In the interests of fair balance, please go here and read both the good and the bad before deciding if this is truely the worst hotel in the world.
